Niklas Ponnert

Niklas Ponnert is a co-founder and managing partner of Origo Advisors, a private equity business focused on China linked cross-border opportunities. He brings twelve years of venture capital and private equity investment experience, gained in China and across developing Asia, as well as an extensive background in launching and managing both privately held and publicly traded investment vehicles. Niklas has served as a director and an executive on a number of Origo affiliated funds and investment vehicles, including LSE listed Origo Partners Plc and Origo Resource Partners Ltd; China Cleantech Partners LLP; Origo Mongolia Ltd; and the China Commodities Fund. He also sits on the board of several Origo invested businesses.Prior to Origo, Niklas worked in various corporate venturing positions at Siemens AG. He was the China based associate of Siemens Venture Capital, scouting for investment opportunities in the telecom and industrial sectors. He was also part of the founding team of Siemens Acceleration, investing in early stage mobile ventures. Niklas commenced his career as an analyst at LECG, a Bay area based economic and finance consulting firm. Niklas received his BA in Political Science with highest honors from U.C. Berkeley. He is a graduate of the EU-China Managers Training Programme, a one year fellowship awarded by the European Commission and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. A Swedish national, Niklas speaks four languages, including Mandarin Chinese. He resides in Beijing since 2001.
