Ron Gutfleish

Ron Gutfleish is the Founder, Chief Investment Officer and Managing Member at Elm Ridge and a member of the Elm Ridge Management Committee. Previously, he worked at Omega Advisors and was a Managing Member and Chief Investment Officer at HPB Associates, a value-based equity hedge fund. Prior to joining HPB, he was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. At Goldman Sachs, he was the Head of the Active Value team, the Senior Portfolio Manager for the Broad Market and MidCap institutional strategies, as well as the Growth and Income and Balanced mutual fund strategies, which he co-founded in 1993. When he left Goldman, these products had reached $6 billion in assets. Formerly, he was a partner at Sanford C. Bernstein and Co., Inc. in the Investment Management Research Department (and was the only analyst member of the Research Review Committee). Ron was previously employed by Value Line as an insurance analyst. Ron graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1981 in Applied Math/Economics and received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987.
